After ten years of owning and operating a successful construction company, JJ Porter Construction, John Porter was looking to go beyond mere construction and begin developing communities. Porter had built 75 homes throughout Lake and McHenry Counties and had earned a reputation for quality craftsmanship and attention to detail.

At the same time, Scott Salgan, who has owned a successful development company for 17 years called Meridian Development Corporation, was looking to expand his business, which had built dozens of custom homes along the Northshore and 17 subdivisions throughout Lake County. Salgan wanted to include a construction component to his operation that would ensure a consistently superior level of construction for his discerning buyers.

The two men, each with their very distinct areas of expertise, joined forces in 2001 and Meridian-Porter LLC was born...
